Class 12 present Top Girls

This year Class 12 presented Caryl Churchill's Top Girls as their final play. Directed by Shamima Hoosen, the production introduced the students to the play's unusual structure and its exploration of ambition, identity and the pressures faced by women in different eras.

The cast worked through a wide range of scenes, from the imaginative opening dinner with historical and mythical figures to the more grounded family conflicts later in the play. These contrasting styles gave the students the chance to work with complex characters and themes.

In the Waldorf tradition of ending Class 12 with a major theatrical project, Top Girls gave the class space to reflect on contemporary questions and on their own transition into adulthood.
