Class 11 Parcival Camp in the Drakensberg

This year the Class 11 students set off on their much-anticipated Parcival Camp, a Waldorf tradition that brings together physical challenge, personal reflection and the legend of Parcival. Having studied the story in class, the students came to see Parcival's journey not only as a tale of knighthood, but as a mirror of their own search for purpose and self-knowledge.
In the Drakensberg mountains, the class took on two demanding hikes: a 14 kilometre trek that tested their endurance and teamwork, and a 10 kilometre walk that asked for perseverance and quiet focus. The trails crossed streams and climbed steep slopes to wide views, moments of beauty reached only through effort.
In the evenings, students shared their experiences around the campfire, often drawing parallels between their own struggles and Parcival's moments of doubt and awakening. Themes of compassion, humility and the courage to ask the right questions came up again and again.
The Parcival Camp is a milestone in the Class 11 year, and the students came home tired but with a quiet confidence. Thank you to Mr Christopher Bester and Mr William Bester for organising the camp, to Mrs Govender for the excellent menu, and to Mrs Goswell for managing meals and caring for the students during the week.
